Dnipro University of Technology — Compliance with the Time
International cooperation

  In 2005-2006 the department took part in the international project of geoinformation support of the mining and processing plant of Navoi (Uzbekistan). A number of business trips to Uzbekistan were conducted as a part of the head of the department, Professor Boris Busygin and Associate Professor Sergii Nikulin. The work of the department is highly appreciated by the management of mining and processing plant. Scientific cooperation with Longman Management Ltd (Uzbekistan) was carried out in accordance with the following topics:

  • "Assessing the prospects of the Ziaetdin Gold Mining based on the use of new computer geoinformation technologies and building forecast maps";
  • "Three-dimensional computer simulation of perspective sections of the Ziaetdin ore field using materials of geological, geophysical and spae surveys".

  In 2008-2009 graduate student of the department Kateryna Sergieieva received an internship at the Polytechnic University of Wroclaw (Poland) at the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformatics at the invitation of the College of Eastern Europe. In the course of the internship, the experience of European colleagues on scientific and methodological approaches to the use of GIS, as well as technologies of data processing of remote sensing of the Earth was taken over.

  In 2009-2010, the team of scientists of the department took an active part in the implementation of work on international grants, designated by the Scientific and Educational Center at the State Higher Education Institute "National Mining University" and the Foundation for Civil Research and Development of the United States. Grants topics:

  • "Technology of landscape analysis of technogenically loaded regions using materials of space surveys" (Head: Candidate of Technical Sciences Igor Garkusha);
  • "Geoinformation technology of analysis of thermal anomalies of coal basins based on the materials of remote sensing of the Earth" (Head: Doctor of Technical Sciences Boris Busigin).

  The works were carried out on the basis of an agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Foundation for Social Research and Development of the USA on scientific and technical cooperation dated May 4, 2001, Supplement No. 34 dated March 15, 2007. and No. 39 dated May 16, 2007. to the Agreement. Minutes of the meeting of the Steering Board under the program "Cooperation in Scientific and Technical Research and Education" of May 16, 2007 Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 07.06.2007. № 453.

  During 2011 the staff of the department participated in an international scientific and technical project with Sodawerk Stassfurt (Germany). With the participation of Professor Boris Busygin and Associate Professor Igor Garkusha, Sodawerk Stassfurt introduced information technology to analyze geological and geochemical data for the development of a soda mining career.

   Under the guidance of Professor Leonid Tsvirkun, the Cisco International Networking Academy was opened at the University. Successful work of the Academy in 2013 allowed to open the Cisco Instructor Training Center at NTU Dniprovska Polytechnic, which is the only one in the region and one in ten in Ukraine, and in 2016 - the Cisco Academic Support Center (which is only located in the leading universities of Ukraine). In the framework of the SVCF (Silicon Valley Community Foundation) grant and Cisco Networking Academy partners in the 2019-2020 academic year, the staff of the Department: Professor Leonid Tsvirkun, Assistant Yana Panferova and Assistant Liliya Beshta, provide CCNA Routing and Switch Security and CC Security.

   Associate Professor Kateryna Sergieieva participated in international scientific and educational programs, including the International School of Mining Dubrovnik International ESEE Mining School (lecturer), International School of Circular Economics DOCSUMSquare EIT RawMaterials PhD Summer School on Circular Economy (scientific consultant), international programs exchange organized jointly with the Mining and Metallurgical Academy. Stanislaw Staszica in Krakow, Poland (coordinator) and others.

   Professor Volodymyr Hnatushenko and Associate Professor Igor Garkusha repeatedly participate in the largest international space hackathon NASA Space App Challenge and VERNADSKY Challenge as mentors and/or jury members.

           The main results of scientific research are reported annually at international scientific seminars and conferences:

  • events organized by the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE), including the annual international conference "Geoinformatics: Theoretical and Applied Aspects", Kyiv;
  • International Symposium on Environmental Issues and Waste Management in Energy and Mineral Production, Prague, Czech Republic;
  • SPIE Remote Sensing International Scientific and Practical Conference;
  • IEEE International Conference on Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS);
